Have you started yet?
Has anyone actually started knitting the sweater? After 5000 swatches and yarn changings, and false start through to a full repeat of the ribbing pattern (in the round, mind you), only to find it was about 45 stitches too big!!!!! I frogged, changed yarn, swatched some more, did some measurements, and now I'VE FINALLY CAST ON FOR MY SWEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to have this going. As mentioned, I'm doing this in the round, as I've chosen to do a pullover version. I'm a brand new blogger, so I will post some photos to my blog, as soon as I figure out how to do that!
Let me know if any of you has started and whether you have photos! I'm ready to roll!!!

I am wanting to do the sweater in the round but then slice it open for a cardigan . . . any suggestions for best way to do that? I have done it successfully in the past using the brute make a couple extra rows, zip up and down the seam with the sewing machine, then cut method, but that was for a sweater with a facing under the neckline and front opening. Not sure how best to handle the placket in this case?
Right now I am on the hat, which is in the round, and getting used to all those crossed stiches. Cannot imaging doing them in purl.

I've only done one steek and cut cardigan, too, and it had facings as well. Do you have the book "Knitting in the Old Way?" She might talk abou that in there. Mine is way downstairs, but if need be, I can look it up for you.

After all that swatching, what yarn did you end up choosing?

I'm using Rowan Cashsoft DK. So far, it is looking very beautiful and the sheen of the yarn make the cables look even prettier.
