chart A and numbers
Hi to all,
I've finished the bottom band of one of the fronts. In chart A on the very first row, about in the middele of the chart it says "knit two stitches together on the wrong side". Does anyone know if I'm right and why this should be done?
Also on a few charts the most right or left vertical row has numbers. Does anyone know what they are there for?
Thanks to anybody who knows!
Bye,
Natasja.

Hi Natasja
K2tog...
I think it is to keep the ribbing pattern centered with the cable patterns. By the way the k2tog row is Right Side Facing. Look to the right of chart 'H'. The '1' and '2' along the graph paper box designates row 1 and 2 of the stitch pattern repeat. Odd rows are the Right Side Facing rows.

Numbers within the graph paper charts are explained above. Numbers along the garment diagrams are measurements in 'cm'. Followed by numbers in parenthesis are number of rows that make up each measurement.
Clearwater Knits has a good explaination.

Natasja, First-that knit 2 tog should be on a right side row if you want to work your cables on the right side. Second-on the fronts that is actually a make 1, as you cast on 75 sts but the body of the front is worked over 76 sts. On the back it is a decrease. So if you work the rib pattern the way the chart shows then your next row will be a rs row. As the chart is drawn, that should be a purl across row and it looks that way in the picture, but in my swatching I ribbed across and think I will in my sweater.
The numbers on the vertical rows are (I am pretty sure) just stitch numbers, letting you know how many sts are in each chart and marking off every 5 sts, as you might in any chart.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for reminding me Theresa C.
Natasja:
Under chart A is some text with an arrow pointing to the decrease symbol. You substitute a purl increase for the front panels.

Hi Natasja:
The number of rib stitches does not match the combined number of chart stitches.
Back panel starts with 139 then changes to 138 pattern stitches.
Each front panel starts with 75 then changes to 76 stitches.
Check you stitch count to ensure you did not add or drop a stitch along the way.

Hi, thanks for the info. So this is an increase I need in this chart or
just
general info?
I have past the start of this chart and did not need an extra stitch.
Thanks and bye,
Natasja.
